UPEC had already strengthened its ties with Khon Kaen University in June 2023 during an institutional mission. A cooperation agreement was signed with KKU's Faculty of Agriculture, to support the AGREES-LAO Structuring Training Project (PSF), in the field of agro-ecology, led by teacher-researchers from the IEES Paris laboratory (Thomas Lerch) and the IRD (Dr Christian Hartmann).

The discussions began with a presentation of the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Dr. Sukhum RUANGCHAI, International Relations Delegate and Professor of Nanoscience and Biomaterials. They continued with an institutional presentation of UPEC and the FST, led by the Director of International Relations - Carole Torriero and representatives of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Yann Bassaglia (Dean of the FST), Davy-Louis Versace, Vice-Dean for International Relations, Khadidja Ouadah, Head Officer of the International Relations and Raphaël Baudrand-Chaudeyrac, International Relations Coordinator.

The meeting with representatives of the Faculty of Science is a sign of the deepening links between UPEC and the KKU, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
The constructive discussions provided an opportunity to explore possible areas of collaboration, such as the implementation of student exchange programmes at bachelor's and master's level, research internships and teaching assignments, as well as the setting up of various university initiatives that could benefit both our institutions, particularly in the fields of environmental sciences and chemistry.
