Testimony as a participant in the European DevCBEV project (2023-2024)

"As a participant in the European DevCBEV project (2023-2024), this initiative provided an unparalleled platform for learning and cross-cultural exchange.

My name is Sethupathiraj SELVARAJ, and I had the privilege of engaging in this collaborative project during my Master's program. This experience has significantly contributed to my academic journey as I progress towards my PhD in neuroglycobiology.

The DevCBEV project, coordinated by the University of Applied Sciences IMC Krems in Austria and supported by the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) in France and the University of Applied Sciences Turku in Finland, was dedicated to exploring new methodologies alongside classical pipelines in the development of next-generation pharmaceuticals. By bringing together leading institutions across Europe, the project aimed to push the boundaries of drug discovery, utilizing innovative approaches to address the challenges of future medical treatments. During this project, under the guidance of Pr Dulce Papy-Garcia and alongside international peers, I gained hands-on experience in biomedicine, OMIC technologies (RNA and DNA) and AI from UPEC and also molecular modelling, proteomics, and cell-based assays, as proposed by the IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences.
Additionally, I worked on the design of sustained-release formulations for biologics and drugs, offered by the Turku University of Applied Sciences. These experiences directly complement my research focus in neuroglycobiology.

Beyond the academic and professional growth, one of the best parts of the DevCBEV project was making friends with people from different cultures. Working closely with colleagues from various countries exposed me to different perspectives and ways of working, which greatly expanded my understanding of teamwork in research. These friendships have enriched me both personally and professionally, helping me build a global network of people who share a passion for advancing medical science.

I am grateful for the support and opportunities provided by UPEC, and I am confident that the skills, insights, and friendships I gained will continue to guide my career in the years to come."
